Fair and equitable compensation for taxi plate owners.

Melbourne taxi drivers again protest in Tullamarine Freeway convoy – against licence buyback payout figure

Why all this taxi disruption? Blame the State Government

Many taxi owners within the industry are concerned the compensation for the licences are inadequate.   As a result, Melbourne taxi drivers are crawling into the city at 5 kilometres an hour to again protest against industry reforms, causing havoc for morning motorists. The Victorian State Government must change its position.

“It cost me altogether for the three licences more than $800,000. Now the Government offer to me $100,000 for my first licence, $50,000 for my second and $50,000 for my third,” said one taxi owner. Driver Vasilios Spanos owns three licences and said the current offer would financially ruin his family.
